Ancillary Service Endorsements - What are they?
Ancillary service endorsements are used to request an addressee's new address and to provide instructions on how to handle undeliverable-as-addressed pieces. It consists of a keyword (Address, Forwarding, Change, Return, or Temp-Return) followed by "Service Requested".
Requirements for use
- Return address must be used (except for standard or bound printed without an endorsement)
- Endorsement must be no smaller than 8-point type.
- Stand out clearly from background (no brilliant colored envelopes or reverse type)
- ¼ inch clear space around (top, bottom, sides) the endorsement
- Location must be in one of following places:
· Directly below the return address
· Directly above the delivery address
· Directly to the left of postage area
· Directly below the postage area
- Charges must be paid for any service provided.
- Notice -- ACS is an electronic address change service that must be approved by the postoffice
and have special information added to the label.
